And I'm Off

Well, I must say this is going to be a wonderful experience. I started my training on yesterday. I went out and walked by myself. I put on my Avon Walk For the Cure bandana and my sweat bans and hit the pavement, up and down hills. I did not calculate the distance but I am working to increase my endurance. While I only did 1hr10min, it got hard at times and when it did I thought about why I was doing it. And then it got better as I reminded myself that one day my small steps will lead to A BIG CURE for what has maimed, disfigured, hurt and killed for long enough. This year I will do my part and be glad of it!

Way to go Irene!!!! 1 hr and 10 mins is a HUGE start. Got me beat for sure. Your BLOG is very inspirational to me. It's so easy to forget why we are doing this and I will certainly file your "BIG CURE" statement in my head to fight the demons - that will try to keep all of us from reaching our goals.

Woohoo! Way to go, Irene!

You know, sometimes I've thought, "I just play with words all day...it's not like I'm curing cancer." I do this to try to maintain perspective.

This is my way of curing cancer without the dreadful bother of medical school.
